Status Update

Well, something looks different!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to almost April and my first blog post for the year! Life has been crazy, and I have been doing so many interesting things… most of which DOES NOT have to do with MEDIA.  So I’ve been hemming and hawing about writing blog post upon blog post on PattiAndMedia.com when I’ve been focused on so many other things besides that. Because of this, I’ve decided to reframe my blog into PattiIsStillLearning.  Now, I’m not going to be shy about posting anything I think is important enough for me to want to remember later. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

Another incident that spawned the change was based on learning something about myself. I’m a fellow in the New Leaders Council, a national progressive organization that equips Millennials with the skills to run for office (yup I said it), manage campaigns, and create start ups (more on this later) and networks of thought leaders. In one of the classes, we talked about personal brand.

For the longest time I equated my brand with PattiAndMedia.  Now, I learned, my brand can be just me: Patti Combs Brownsord.  No theme, no angle, just something about me that is quintessentially me: learning!

I love to learn.  Heck, I have a tattoo on my forearm in Cantonese that says “To Learn” (bet you’ve never noticed). It’s a reminder for me that I should always choose learning something new rather than continuing with the same old.  It’s also a reminder for me to keep going back to Kung Fu and Tai Chi even if I miss a couple of weeks due to conflicts.

So my blog is taking a turn for the better and broader. I hope you’ll continue with me on my journeys.  I look forward to sharing with you the best of marketing, books I read (er, listen to), leadership, Orlando, and life in general.

Feeling rejuvenated,

me

PS – I got a new job! More on that later, too.  Oh boy, do I have so much to write about! (Promise you’ll still get something only once a week; I don’t want to give you a learning hangover.)
