Reading Between the Wines – Yes, I’m on another committee

So you probably realize now that I’m a busy gal.  But I’m very happy to say that everything I choose to be a part of is because I feel it is important for either my personal growth, or to help in the development of our community.  Being a part of the Adult Literacy League’s Reading Between the Wine 2014 Host Committee is no exception.  This is a great organization with a great cause: to help any and all adults who want to learn how to read.  While the idea of not being able to read to learn new things is hard for me to grasp, there are people in this community that have less than the basic skills to read a simple article or even headline.  And this greatly limits their ability to be effective, productive members of society.

I specifically joined the Host Committee because this is where I feel I can do the broadest good.  With the connections I’ve made over my career, I can hopefully connect ALL’s dots to yours (yes, I’m talking to you) and see if we can all help make Reading Between the Wines the most successful event to date.  This success only helps to get more supplies and man-power at the ALL as RBTW’s expenses are so low (because of people like you) that most revenue generated goes to helping students and not paying for the event.

If there’s anything at all you or your organization might be able to donate (media, in-kind, auction items, money), please let me know.  If you’d like more information about the event and how you can be a part of it, please fill out the form below.

And for some motivation, here are two great videos describing the impact the ALL has on it’s students.  Truly moving.
