New Orleans Billboards Through Time

Of course I took pictures of advertisements on my recent trip to New Orleans!  Unfortunately, most billboards look like any other billboards, but I found some nuggets.

Here are some old-type ones in the town of Algiers.  I guess they don’t have enough people interested in the boards.  I’m kind of glad.  It gave the area some character.

And here are old-old-old billboards that I bought tiny versions of and have hung them on my office wall.  You can see that they didn’t really stick to the 7 words or less with one primary message.  Although I’m not sure we always pay attention to that rule now.

This one is a little more stream-lined.

And I loved this one.  This was one of the ads that truly represented New Orleans attitude and Louisiana pride.
